Round 7 of the AMSOIL Championship Snocross Series was the craziest of the season with a tight track and hairpin first turn providing plenty of drama for the teams that traveled to Pontiac, Michigan. Foremost Insurance/Ski-Doo racer Tim Tremblay grabbed the holeshot in the Pro Open final and raced to the win but not without challenges from Tucker Hibbert and lappers that began appearing early into the final.
Logan Christian had a season breakthrough finishing second on his Arctic Cat ahead of Hibbert who had problems of his own and had to rally for third. Point leader Ross Martin and contender Robbie Malinoski were both caught up in a first lap melee. Malinoski actually passed leader Tremblay to get his lap back and finish fifth, while Martin was not far behind a lap down in sixth.
Kody Kamm was running away with yet another Pro Lite final when his machine came to a stop with just two laps to go, handing the win to Jimmy John’s Ski-Doo rider Derek Ellis who had put himself in position to capitalize.
ISOC staff worked through the night to have a track in place for Friday morning practice. The course was every bit as big as the first run in 2011 and the Michigan crowd came out in large numbers to show their support.
